About Ink Drift

Ink Drift explores the quiet meeting point between technology and nature. Precise, algorithmic lines are drawn by pen plotters, but always with real ink — a material that spreads, pools, and behaves unpredictably, echoing the way natural forces shape the world.

Each piece is an observation of patterns — in rivers, roots, wind, and weather — translated into marks on paper. Every drawing becomes a record of time, a collaboration between code, machine, and material, where control and chance coexist.

Based in Oslo, Ink Drift is about slowing down, letting things unfold, and finding beauty in the imperfect traces left behind.

Our process

From algorithm to archival ink

Every Ink Drift piece begins as a generative design — a set of mathematical instructions that form the blueprint of the artwork. These designs are then brought to life with a state-of-the-art pen plotter, which guides real pens across the page with precision and care.

We use archival-quality pens and carefully selected, heavy fine-art paper to ensure deep, lasting lines and beautiful texture. Each drawing is created slowly, line by line, allowing subtle variations in ink flow and paper grain to make every piece truly one of a kind.

FAQ

Questions, answered honestly

Q.Are the artworks originals or prints?

Every Ink Drift piece is a one-of-a-kind original. Each work is drawn individually by a state-of-the-art pen plotter, so no two are exactly the same.

Q.What materials do you use?

Archival-quality pens and heavy, acid-free fine-art paper, for deep, lasting lines and a beautiful, tactile surface.

Q.Do you ship worldwide?

Yes — every order ships from Oslo with tracked delivery. See the Shipping section above for exact timelines by region.

Q.Will my artwork look exactly like the photo?

Because each piece is plotted in real time with ink, small variations in line quality and ink flow make every artwork unique — that's part of the charm.

Q.Do you offer custom sizes or commissions?

Yes — custom sizes and commissioned works are available on request. Get in touch through the contact form to discuss your idea.

Q.How is the artwork packaged?

Packaged with care using protective materials. Larger works ship rolled in sturdy tubes.

Q.What if my artwork arrives damaged?

Contact us with photos and we'll make it right — full policy details are on our Shipping & Returns page.

Framing & display

Sold unframed, on purpose

Ink Drift artworks are sold unframed, giving you the freedom to choose a style that suits your space. We recommend simple frames with UV-protective glass to preserve the deep blacks of the ink and the texture of the fine-art paper. For a gallery-style look, use a mat to give the drawing room to breathe.
